The community of UChurch is a wonderful picture of diversity.  We are by no means perfect (and nor do we try to be), but we are certainly authentic.  We are a nontraditional, multi-ethnic, multi-generational “church” family that works hard to know and live the truth, not traditions.  We are not followers of Christianity, but rather followers of Jesus.  We are not organized religion, but we do have order.

Our Core Values

Our core values describe how we grow. Whether it be a home group or a new church plant, these values are the essential issues:

1. Lordship We value obedience.

Because Jesus is “King of kings and Lord of lords,” we believe that whole-hearted submission to God’s will and His Word is the starting point of the Christian faith and the foundation of all spiritual growth.

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him.   ~ Colossians 2:6

2. Reconciliation We value lost people.

Because God’s heart is to reach the lost, we seek to build churches primarily through reconciliation.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.   ~ John 3:16

3. Discipleship We value spiritual growth.

Because we are called to make disciples, our primary focus is ministering to people, not conducting meetings, administrating programs, or building buildings.

Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  ~ Matthew 28:19

4. Leadership We value leadership development.

Because we are called to raise up spiritual leaders, we prioritize leadership training and deliberately create opportunities for young potential leaders to develop their gifts.

And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.   ~ 2 Timothy 2:2

5. Family We value long-term relationship.

Because we believe God has called us to be a spiritual family, we reject the idea of disposable relationships and choose to walk in covenant relationships that demonstrate love, respect, and unity.

Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labour in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children are a reward from him.   ~ Psalm 127:1,3

Our Statements of Faith

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
  • We believe there is one eternal, almighty and perfect God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
  • We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential.
  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

We also embrace and adopt the Nicean Creed of AD325 and the Chalcedonian Creed of AD451.
