2012 UChurch Summer Picnic

The sun is shining, the grass is turning green, and its that time of year again…when we gather as a church family in the great outdoors to praise God for His goodness and for His beautiful creation! Join us at this year’s annual summer picnic as we worship and spend time together, and celebrate with those who are baptized!

Date: Sunday June 10, 2012

Time: 10:30am – 2:00pm (baptisms will begin at 11:00am)

Location: Edworthy Park, picnic sites #6 and #7

To Bring: if your last name begins with A – M, please bring a salad to share, and if your last name begins with N – Z, please bring a dessert. Hot dogs, hamburgers, and drinks will be provided by UChurch.

Please note: there WILL NOT be a service at the UofC on Sunday, June 10.

Every Nation School of Empowerment

“The Campus Harvest Academy of Student Evangelism in North Carolina is a collegiate academy providing graduate-level training to equip both enrolled college students and graduates to become missionaries on college and high school campuses. On-campus internships provide practical application of the biblical and theological training. A member of the Association of Christian Educators and Administrators, the school is an unaccredited program but offers the option of course credit through an accredited institution – Columbia International University’s Seminary and School of Mission. These credits are accepted at most institutions.

The Campus Harvest Academy of Student Evangelism consists of four unique schools seamlessly integrated into one academy: the School of Encounter, the School of Evangelism, the School of Equipping, and the School of Empowerment. Each school is designed in modular form so students can attend at least one of these schools each summer of their college careers. College graduates may take all schools consecutively.” (source: Campus Harvest Academy brochure)

UChurch, in particular we encourage you to pray about the School of Empowerment, which is coming up this summer. This three-week school focuses on the person of the Holy Spirit: His character, gifts and power. With prayer, worship and regular fasting, every participant will receive prophetic ministry and healing prayer as well as the practical activation of their spiritual gifts.

Help Care for Papa John

Church, our dear friend, John Hutchinson, who has loved our community so well and for so long, is in need of our help. Over the past while, his foot has badly deteriorated due to severe arthritis to the point that the ankle joint is nonfunctioning. His foot/leg are badly displaced, and he is therefore confined to a wheelchair. At this point, his possible surgery date is July 5…unless God works a great miracle of healing!

As members of John’s spiritual family, we need to help John out at this time. View the spreadsheet below for outstanding driving and meal provision needs, and email Jan at jveck@me.com with your name, contact information, the date for which you are able to help care for John, and what kind of care you are able to provide (driving or meal…or both!)

For driving, please note: if you are driving John to doctor appointments, his address for pickup is; 1203 40 Ave NW (park in the back alley and come to the back door to pick him up). You need to take his wheelchair with you either in your back seat or trunk.

For meals, please provide them in disposable containers (or plan to pick up used dishes yourself). John is so appreciative of the meals and is not allergic or a fussy eater!
