2011 UChurch Marriage Retreat

Marriage can be a wild ride, and in the busyness of life, its not often that we get a chance to reflect on, learn about, and nurture our marriages. So come away with us for a time of renewal for your marriage and a chance to learn from and build relationship with other couples in our community.

Dates: November 11 – 13, 2011

Time: 7:00pm on Friday, November 11 – 3:00pm on Sunday, November 13

Location: Canmore Radisson Hotel (511 Bow Valley Trail, Canmore AB)

Guest Speakers: Russ & Debbie Austin (Russ is the North American Regional Leader for Every Nation Ministries)

Childcare: Parents are strongly encouraged to make childcare arrangements in Calgary; however, exceptions will be made for parents with nursing infants. In these instances, please indicate if you have a need for childcare in the registration form.

Cost: $250 per couple if registration and payment is received on or before October 16, 2011; $270 per couple if registration and payment are received after October 16, 2011.

The amount of time we spend preparing for careers and maintaining our skills in careers is understood to be critical to ones success. The same logic applies to relationships and specifically marriage. However many people today take little or no time to prepare for what will be the most important relationship in their life. Divorce rates attest to this sad reality. Statistics reveal that over 80% of couple who do divorce regrets their decision not that long afterwards. Skills and perspective are required. Those couples who take the time and energy to prepare before and commit to keep learning after the wedding day, understandably have much better success and happiness. Interestingly enough statistics reveal that divorce rates fall from 40-50% to 5% for those couples who do two things; first they chose to participate in a mentor-based pre-marital process and secondly, they get involved in a healthy authentic faith community where life long learning is valued and experienced.

Over the years at UChurch we have been developing and maturing in our understanding of what aspects really contribute to helping couples develop healthy perspective, a teachable heart and the appropriate skills to have healthy maturing relationships. Below are a few steps/tools we have been using for those interested in pre-marital mentorship in the UChurch community. Email us if you need to know more !

Marriage is God’s way for couples to live together in a joyful relationship of love, trust and mutual respect. Single? Married? Engaged? All are welcome to join the course offered through Ellel Ministries and take a fresh look at how God intended marriage to be.

This course seeks to:

develop strong Biblical foundations for a lasting marriage
provide realistic expectations for your marriage
address issues which arise in marriage from a practical and Godly perspective
address issues that might hinder your future life together

March 13-15

If you are married or engaged you’ve probably experienced how over time life’s obligations, stresses and worries can slowly wear on your relationship. Just like anything that is precious, we need to invest into our marriages.

On March 13-15th we will be taking time to relax, rejuvenate, and respond to God’s voice in our marriages. And what better place to get away to than Banff….

REGISTRATION

EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION > on or before Feb 15 > $250/couple

LATE REGISTRATION > Feb 16 – Mar 1 > $270/couple

This includes all sessions, accommodation (booked by UChurch), breakfast and lunch on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday, & parking.
