Hello UChurch! Join Christians from other clubs across campus this Thursday, March 29th from 7:00-9:00 PM in room EDC 179 one last time this semester to worship God and pray for our campus. Come engage in powerful worship from The Deeper Worship band traveling all the way from St. Paul, Alberta! Come hear testimonies of students who have encountered the abundant LIFE of Christ in a tangible way this year as we celebrate the fact that we serve a God who is certainly not dead but ALIVE and at work in our generation!

You’re invited to celebrate with Leland, Heather, and the worship crew at “The Sweetest Thing” concert. Leland will be performing with a live band and will be sharing the inspiration/background of many of the songs on the album. Plus, our very own Lance Farkas will be opening (his CD will come out soon as well)!

When the CD is complete, proceeds of album sales will be donated to mission/ministry/humanitarian work at UChurch and beyond.  Three of the future recipients of these funds will be briefly sharing the heart of the ministries/organizations they represent.

Tickets: $20.00 each and are available for purchase at UChurch for the next two Sundays after the service. Tickets include: concert admission, dessert, coffee, and an opportunity for some really cool stuff at the silent auction, including: your very own personalized song written by Leland, original art from local artists (Heather is donating the painting that was reproduced on the ticket), an opportunity to get your name on the CD jacket, etc.  Tickets will sell fast, so get ‘em while they’re still available.

Thanks to Evan for recording these clips.  Truth be told, he actually recorded 43 gigs (translation: hours and hours) of HD video and we’re in the process of getting more clips up on the web as we go.  I’m SO EXCITED about how it’s all working out.  At this moment, Paul Colman and Jeremy Michael are adding keyboards (Jeff Roach) and more vocals to the songs and then they’ll be mixing them.  There will be 12 songs on this album and what you’ve seen is just the beginning of 4 of them.  In other words, this is just the tiny tip of the iceberg!

Finally, I’d like to say a HUGE thanks to all of you who have supported us in prayer during this recording process.  My voice held out just fine despite having to sing for 10 hours a day for 4 straight days (not to mention the clip above from “Gone”)!  That is a miracle in itself!!!  I highly doubt I could have held out without your individual and corporate prayers.  Also, a BIG thanks to those of you who have chosen to partner with us in donating to this project.  I can’t say it enough about what the final product is going to be like other than…it’s going to sound AMAZING!!

For more than 10 years, Leland Nelson has served as our worship leader at UChurch. His songs, his spirit, and his passion for God have inspired many to follow Jesus and abandon themselves to Him in worship. This year, Leland has written more than 30 unique songs, all of them God-breathed.

Concerning his music Leland believes, “But my life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus – the work of telling others the Good News about God’s wonderful kindness and love.” ~ Acts 20:24

Leland, along with his wife, Heather, have a desire to record these songs and produce a worship album that might bless not only our UChurch community, but many others around the world. As their church family, this is our opportunity to become part of Leland and Heather’s God-given dream, and to support them in the journey of creating a worship album. The goals of this album project are:

• To glorify God. The songs on the album are for God’s people – everywhere – to worship and glorify Him;
• To raise funds through the sale of the album for ongoing missions and evangelistic outreach work on campus, in our city, in our country, and “to the ends of the earth”;
• To provide an inspirational and equipping tool for outreach that presents the gospel and our love for Jesus in words and music.
• To commemorate the work that God has done in and through our UChurch community over the past year. The songs God has given reflect our life together as a community and may be seen as stones that, together, become an altar commemorating all that God has done.

The youth in our city and surrounding area are the focus for the upcoming City Wide Prayer Rally. Mrs. Wanda Bailey – Prayer Coordinator for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association – and several other guest youth speakers will lead us in prayer for our youth. In addition, we will be praying for the Rock the River Tour West, which is scheduled to take place on August 21st (stay tuned for details).

Here’s what you need to know:

“Dear Friends in Ministry

Greeting in the name of Yeshua our Messiah.  We would like to invite you  to a City-Wide Shavuot/Pentecost Celebration at the Dream Centre in Calgary on Saturday May 22 at 6:00 pm.  The scriptures tell us “How good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell in  unity”.  Would you please consider attending  this exciting evening of Messianic praise and worship?   Rabbi Cal Goldberg will be sharing an inspirational word on the prophetic and Messianic significance of the Feast of Shavuot (Pentecost).

As part of this special service we would like to take an offering to help Beth Shechinah to purchase a permanent house of worship for their congregation.  They have an opportunity to purchase the building they are in and need to raise 1.3 million dollars.  We would ask you to prayerfully pray as to what you would give as a “First Fruits” offering.  The original first fruits offering was a sacrifice waved before the Lord to insure that the summer’s harvest would be bountiful.   If you are able to attend this special service we invite you to bring a first fruits offering  to “wave” before the Lord.  The wave offering has special Messianic significance.   It is an expression of Jew and Gentile coming together in a spirit of unity as one new man.

We believe that this “Pentecost Celebration” can be an expression of citywide unity and a catalyst to invite the Holy Spirit to bring transformation to our city.   In preparation for this Pentecost  Celebration we are asking you to  be fasting and praying for unity and a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit that will bring “Transformational Revival” to the city of Calgary.

We have attached a brochure and poster that shares the vision of Pastor Cal Goldberg and our hearts to bless this Messianic congregation with this special “Firstfruits offering”.

We are praying that we will have representation from many church congregations and that this will be a launching point of a more cooperative effort to reach our city and communities for Christ.    May the Lord bless you and pour a fresh anointing of His Spirit upon all of our houses of worship as we unite to gather as one new man!”

About Paul Colman:

Paul was raised in Australia where he developed his love for God and for music.  He has been internationally recognized as being at the forefront of contemporary Christian music both as a solo artist, and as the guitarist for the Newsboys.  His incredible talents have been recognized by a Grammy nomination and by several Dove Awards.

A native Australian, Paul Coleman is best known for his  work as the lead guitarist for the Newsboys.  Paul also has a very successful solo career in the CCM industry.  Paul and his family live in Nashville and he will be joining us to share his testimony and music on the morning of Sunday June 28, 2009..
