Well, we waited to see if the weather was going to shift but God has other plans for us! UChurch is NOT meeting at Sylvan or Edworthy Park or the UofC this Sunday due to inclement weather, instead we have chosen to be a ‘warmer’ crew, having our ‘family’ time at the Parkdale Community Center at 11:00 (3512 – 5 Ave N.W. – Just off of Memorial Drive) and we have a surprise guest speaker as well!
We need your help… this late notice needs to be fanned out ASAP. Obviously we don’t want anyone to miss out and go to the wrong location, so if you could please take a few minutes and ‘spread’ the news, that would be super duper fantastic…
To Bring….
1. Yourself (the most important part!), pen, paper, bible…
2. Someone else who you (hopefully) passed this ‘change of venue’ information along to (fan this out please!)
3. Some food to share, (what are you ‘known for!’ ->Last name: A-M (Salads), N-Z (Desserts)
4. Frisbees or footballs or other indoor/outdoor toys (for later)
The UChurch crew will be providing all main course ingredients for “build your own super sandwich”, so plan accordingly!
Why the food ?
Besides my obvious need to chow down, it actually will be a ‘family’ communion meal together. The communion meal in the first centuries was never about a wafer and a thimble of grape juice, it was a full-on community meal where the believers came together to remember Christ as his ‘body’. No staring at the back of another persons head this Sunday – church begins when we face our chairs at one another!
Surprise Guest…. Needs prayer!
Yup… just learned that our opening speaker (Rice Broocks) for the Harvest Institute (Mon-Fri) has opted to change his flight. He is now getting out of bed at 5:00am Sunday, and catching the 6:30 am flight from Nashville to get in to Calgary early….… now that’s love! If all works out as per airline schedules, prayer and baggage guys, we will have the opportunity to ‘digest’ God’s words for us through Rice while munching on a dogwood sandwich !
SO… if Rice can get up that early, and our friends from Medicine Hat can drive 2.5 hrs to come to UChurch every couple of weeks(with new babies in tow)….. us Calgarians should do what we can to NOT worship Saint Mattress to long Sunday am..(how’s that for subtle !)
