Children are such a gift from the Lord. Ps 127:3 (NIV) says, “Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from Him.” On one occasion, Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matt. 19:14)
They are innocent, bright, tender, humorous, and fun to hang out with.
It is primarily the parents who have the incredible privilege of working with Father God, encouraging them into their “bents” or original wiring and design.
Ideally, the community around these precious ones (teachers, grandparents, coaches, e.t.c.) come alongside the parents to help them develop into whom they were originally designed to be.
Our spiritual family also wants to be available to provide a safe, fun place for our kids, from toddlers to teens.
As we start meeting in person again, we have felt from the Spirit that the kids are to be highlighted. They are considered a very important demographic in our community of faith.
We want our community to offer a rich environment for our kids to receive, feel safe, valued, included, and have fun.
It can look like almost anything! An adult sharing a word or prayer they get with a child, a young adult sensing to include a teenager on a special outing, hike, coffee, or a group of young families meeting together to go sledding.
Can we keep these special ones in our hearts and on our minds? Who knows the dreams or ideas Father may give you for this demographic!
That being said, for our younger ones (toddlers to 12/13years), we would like to be intentional in providing a safe place for instruction and fun during our gathering times. (Also, practically, we want to support parents of young children who cannot attend to the word or worship as they run after a two-year-old).
All that is needed is a story from one of your favourite children’s Bible storybooks, a craft (it can be as simple as colouring), or a game. But it can also be as colossal as your imagination allows you to dream for these little ones!
When we gather at the Village on Brentwood, we are looking for 2-3 volunteers to work with the kids in a separate room. It would be for an hour, 445-545/6. We would like this to be shared by many, but more so by those who would have the heart to engage in this way. Any ages/walks of life are welcome!
